J.R. Ward set's a high standard for paranormal romance and is absolutely a must read author. Steamy scenes, in depth world building and complex characters define her style. The Fallen angels series precedes the BDB series but in my opinion shouldn't be read first as they have very little overlap until the most recent BDB books. Every couple does have a HEA but there are heavy topics covered in these novels. If you are new to this genre, start here!

Feehan's most popular series is paranormal romance with erotic scenes and plenty of violence and action. No cheating and a HEA for every couple. The couples are all so different and unique but the men tend to be serious alpha's so that's a big part of this series. They are masculine and domineering but many of the heroines are strong, determined firecrackers. Feehan's novels are constantly entertaining me with their twist, turns and seriously hot hero's.
